Original article published February 8th, 2025: Part of Jordan Brand’s “Unbannable” marketing offense included “banning” several Air Jordan 1 styles on Nike.com, blocking out the product profile picture with a rectangular black box. Because if the Air Jordan 1 was indeed banned, these off-shoots, including the Method Of Make series, simply would not exist.
Easily one of the boldest variations of the AJ1 to date, the “Method Of Make” is designed to enhance the original design lines and shape, elevating the hardwood basketball shoe to the runway and OOTD sightings. The extended edges were often linked to Comme des Garcons’ treatment of the Air Max 95, Air Mowabb, and more, allowing us to instantly draw the connection.
The Method Of Make series has slowly begun to expand as the Air Jordan 1 Low graduated from the Taffetta-textured hand-bag aesthetic to the padded and plush version that’s been popping up in store, but the Air Jordan 1 High has yet to see the Vol. 2. Is Jordan Brand planning for a sequel soon?
