As you’ve probably already gathered from the nickname, the design takes inspiration from a ritual Michael Jordan followed throughout his entire professional career; wearing UNC practice shorts under his NBA uniform. The ultimate outcome is another “UNC” Jordan 3 anchored by “Legend Blue” accents on the midsole, eyelets, and heel Jumpman logos. As far as special touches go, the inner tongue features a laundry tag with a size (XL) and text reading “87-88” for the NBA season the Jordan 3 came out in. Crisp “Summit White” leather makes up most of the upper, with grey “Photon Dust” suede landing on the toe, heel, and eyelet paneling. Soft “Hydrogen Blue” appears on tongue logos, lining, and segments of the outsole, while “Sail” delivers a vintage, pre-aged vibe underfoot.
Given all the retros on our Jordan Release Dates 2025 calendar, demand for the “Lucky Shorts” 3s doesn’t appear to be high in comparison to surrounding releases, namely the “Black Metallic Reimagined” Jordan 5. Just like the “Black Toe Reimagined” Jordan 1, the sneaker is currently going for below retail on resale platforms ahead of the official release. Save for a “Joker” Jordan 3 for kids, next up for Mike’s third signature model is another A Ma Maniére Jordan 3 in “Diffused Blue.”
