Whether he’ll take on his 19th season as a member of the Phoenix Suns or elsewhere, Kevin Durant’s legend is already written. As a two-time champion and accepted contender for “greatest scorer of all time,” it’s now hard to imagine a time when he was more promise than pedigree. Yet the current retro of his Nike KD 4 recalls exactly that era; when the Texas product made Thunder jerseys a commonplace sight after bringing the franchise to their first-ever NBA Finals. In reissuing some of the silhouette’s most lasting looks, the next step is the KD 4 “Easter,” landing close to the holiday itself.
The “Mint Green”/”New Green” arrangement remains true to its original specs, including the flashes of light pink underneath the midfoot strap that further reinforce the pastel theming that dominates the shoe. While we’ve seen other basketball shoes out of Beaverton tinker with the tooling of reinvigorated product (looking at you, Protro), the original cushioning package of the KD 4 stays in place, highlighted by forefoot Air Zoom that announces its presence with embossed text. For those particular about their pair’s packaging, this continues the special boxes for the model’s retro, diverging from the original orange box for co-branded Nike/KD flip-tops.
The Nike KD 4 “Easter” releases on April 18th in men’s sizing, retailing for $130 upon arrival. While we await this pair’s launch, enjoy a closer look at what it has to offer via the official images included below.
Elsewhere in the Swoosh’s retro slate, the Nike Air Max 95 marches on in its own resurgence with a full serving of “Big Bubble” pairs.
