Sneaker News Despite Nike’s promises to inject some fresh designs and some overall newness to the product cycle, we’re still seeing a heavy reliance on Retro product. While we must admit that the frequency of Dunks has decreased, it’s not evident that Nike has no plans of pulling the silhouette from the market as a whole, and is instead focusing on some newer ideas.
This upcoming Dunk Low may not scream a fresh appeal, because it doesn’t look much different than what’s already out there. Two-toned in color-blocking via the Gorge Green and Summit White as well as the Dark Sulfur and Pale Ivory, these are far too similar to the mid-80s classics focused on college team colorways.
However, there’s a subtle twist via the new branding hit; mid-way through the primary Swoosh logo’s tail end, you’ll see a miniature Swoosh in a shining metallic gold fixed onto the suede. This metal piece is similar in size to the fore-foot Swooshes we typically find on select 80s icons and even on the Nike Book 1, but sure enough, Nike has found it a new home.
