While this iteration of Inside the NBA is in its swan song, the iconic quartet will continue to influence the game under new management next season. So too will Barkley’s stamp in sneakers make an impact in 2025. News of the Air Max 2 CB 94 “OG” had been circulating for some time, but the basketball cult classic is also set to drop in its “Suns” colorway.

Parsing out the inspiration for this shoe is as easy as reading the title, with the vivid purple and orange color scheme utilized in Barkley’s Phoenix days accurately fitted around a white leather base. The announcement of this second pair in what’s shaping up to be an earnest retro run comes at an opportune time. The maximalist design language of the 1990s is already very much in vogue for the Swoosh, as indicated by the success of the revitalized Deion Sanders shoes empire. However, note that in Prime’s case, there was far more absence for hearts to grow fonder in — this “Suns” edition last returned in 2022. However, given the amount of attention that the return of the “OG” colorway and a model like the Air Trainer SC High has already elicited, this shoe shouldn’t have any difficulties flying off the shelves.

The Nike Air Max CB 94 “Suns” is currently expected to hit Nike.com and retail shelves on May 1st, retailing for $160 upon arrival.
