Ja Morant’s journey with Nike kicked off with a bang as he debuted the Nike Ja 1 in early 2023 in a jaw-dropping “Scratch” colorway inspired by the Grizzlies’ throwback uniforms. Thankfully, that nostalgia continued with the Nike Ja 2 signature model with the clawed graphics actually ripping through the upper on the “Black Label” release. Now, Nike has prepared a proper colorway befitting the vintage uniforms anchored by a rich Rapid Teal.
Set to release on May 1st, this Nike Ja 2 “Scratch” features a teal-based upper with hits of University Red on the Swoosh and touches of Ale Brown on Morant’s peak logo on the tongue. Unlike the higher-priced and limited-edition Black Label drop from earlier this February, this version of the Scratch 2s features the shredded detail via an overlay vs. actual cut-out fashion. The claw marks descend down onto the white midsole to finish out the concept.
