Ja Morant’s “Star Power” Is Front And Center On This Nike Ja 2

It was an up-and-down season for Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies, something perfectly encapsulated by their playoff exit. One moment it was projecting to be the most lopsided series of all time. A game later, Morant’s claim that they had “figured the Thunder out” didn’t seem all that improbable. Less than a quarter after that, the high-flyer left the floor with a hip injury, all but sealing their fate. While there are big questions surrounding the Grizzlies heading into the off-season, #12 being appointment viewing isn’t one of them — something that the Nike Ja 2 “Star Power” taps into.

Though “Star Power” is the title for this Ja 2, starfruit is more where our head goes, making good on a tropical, playful palette entirely suitable for the younger set. With Morant’s signature line still holding onto a ton of purchase within that demo, chalking off these sort of remains a savvy move; this actually comes as one of three kids’ basketball releases queued up for May 9th alongside the Sabrina 2 and LeBron 22. This is notably one of four pairs that Morant himself “leaked” back in February, though obviously the samples he showed off were fit to his specifications rather than for kids.

Again, internal Nike documents point to the Nike Ja 2 “Star Power” releasing on May 9th, though a handful of retailers have May 16th listed instead. We’ll keep our “Where To Buy” widget below stocked with direct pick-up links whenever and wherever they land. In the meantime, enjoy official images included below and keep our Sneaker Release Dates page close by for more info as it comes.
