Updated June 4th, 2025: HYEIN SEO has officially let loose details on its upcoming Nike Ava Rover collaboration, including the fact that the platform for the shoe relies heavily on ZoomX foam. The pair in “Sequoia Black” releases on June 6th at the brand’s Seoul flagship before additional retailers (CDG Seoul, Worksout, BOONTHESHOP) drop limited stock. A global launch will follow at an undetermined date.
Beaverton making their way to South Korea is all of a sudden a major storyline. A matter of hours after the official reveal of the Worksout Air Max 95, another serious project is hitting the airwaves: womanswear label Hyein So is introducing the Nike Ava Rover in their first foray into the Swoosh canon.
The most immediately visible choice here is the sole unit with almost a webbed pattern, creating a wave of cratered indentations in in the midsole. Above, that chunky aspect is contrasted by a lightweight upper construction: a graphic layer serves as the mudguard, with additional thin panels serving as the sidewalls and the tongue. A mini-Swoosh towards the tip of the shoe, a square grid of perforations, and a rear pull-tab close out the design with some slighter detailing. All told, the design language of Nike’s current stable of trail runners is on display, with additional comparison points to ACG product like Mountain Fly.
Given we don’t know the “default” arrangement that mainline Ava Rovers will take to, it’s hard to tell exactly which of these hardware aspects of the Ava Rover are Hyein Seo contributions, but at least at first blush, the tonal mix of pale purple and black aligns well with the imprint’s elevated aesthetic.
What we do know is that the model won’t stop with this collaboration — general release colorways are anticipated for the Fall 2025 shopping season from July onwards.
