With the Kobe 6 remaining the most well-regarded of the current Protro models, it’s only right that it was the selection to honor his deep ties to Los Angeles. Shortly after being drafted to the Lakers he’d spend his entire illustrious NBA career with, Bryant began making in-roads with the hometown squad, culminating with a first pitch in 2000 following the first title win of an eventual three-peat. He’d remain a fixture in the following two decades, with the ties forged in that period leading to his daughters, Malika and Natalia tossing out their own first pitches to commemorate their late father.

All of this leads into the Kobe 6 “Dodgers,” a public release colorway that trickles out to the public after the Dodgers themselves received PE versions. Sporting the iconic combination of blue, red, and white, baseball stitch details and the Mamba’s number 8 emblazoned onto the heel add additional texture to the base Protro model. Highlighting how much the Kobe retro business has grown in recent years, a slide version and a range of baseball performance gear will land alongside the shoes via SNKRS.
