Tobe Nwigwe Reimagines The Moncler Trailgrip GTX In Trademark “Momint”

You may more readily conjure up heavy duty outerwear when you think of Moncler, but you can’t discount their footwear department. First making a splash on our side of things with a Salehe Bembury collaboration in 2022 that doubled as the introduction of the Trailgrip GTX (designed and subsequently let loose by then Head of Footwear Design Nathan Van Hook), they’ve continued to link up with notable names alongside fleshing out their roster with inline looks. The latest to enter their canon is Tobe Nwigwe, artist and overall multi-hyphenate that brings his patented color scheme to the outdoorsy silhouette.

If you’re a consistent follower of our coverage, this won’t be your first time spotting the Houston native’s work, recently joining up with Reebok for two takeovers of the Preseason 94. Inline with that collaboration, his love for light green, or as he describes it, “Momint,” is on full display as he heads into the Italian mountains. A comprehensive dose of the viridescent coloring drapes the silhouette, including the Vibram lugged traction underfoot.

Up top, you can spot a real flattening of the upper, ditching some of the gorpcore, maximalist touches on mainline editions like additional ribboning at the quarter panel and pull closures atop the laces. In its place? Stitching spelling out “Chukwu,” another Nwigwe trademark in his footwear career so far and a reference to both spirituality and his own family name.

The Tobe Nwigwe x Moncler Trailgrip “Momint” is available now via the Moncler site, retailing for $820. Catch images below and if you’re so inclined, pick up a pair here.
