Andrew Rizzo He lies, he cheats, he steals… and he wears Air Jordans in the ring. WWE Intercontinental Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio got a special delivery from @vickalmighty backstage at Monday Night Raw earlier this week; a custom Travis Scott Jordan 1 Low inspired by Dom’s real (?) father.
Apologies for breaking kayfabe, but Dominik is actually the son of WWE Hall Of Famer and legendary luchador Rey Mysterio. However, as the WWE storyline goes, Dominik is the illegitimate son of the late Eddie Guerrero, whom Rey had a fierce rivalry with in the 90s and 2000s. The two even faced off in a “Custody Of Dominik” ladder match at SummerSlam 2005, in which an eight year old Dominik got involved. Two decades later, Dom is all grown up and one of the biggest heels in pro wrestling. Much like Eddie and his “Lie, Cheat, Steal” mentality, Dom is so good at being evil that he’s simultaneously become beloved. He’s incorporated much of Eddie’s influence into his character, including his move set, wrestling gear, and now sneakers.
Taking inspiration from Eddie’s legendary merch, Vick Almighty includes custom insoles featuring screen-printed flames and “Latino Heat” lettering. Skeleton graphics tribute Mexican pro wrestler La Parka, another one of Dom’s muses, while white falcon detailing honors the many lucha masks of Dominick’s real father Rey. The inner tongue features a black and white paisley pattern, accompanied by stitched red text reading “D.M.” on the left and “The Greatest Mysterio” on the right. More falcon and flame graphics are embroidered on the tongue, while a purple outsole and Nike tag align with Dom’s Judgement Day faction. Aside from suede reverse Swoosh logos, the rest of the design takes after the “Olive” Travis Scott x Jordan 1 Low from 2023.
As wrestling fans are surely well aware, Mysterio is a big sneakerhead and wears Travis Scott shoes in the ring on a pretty regular basis. He recently appeared on Complex Sneaker Shopping alongside his Judgement Day partner/love interest Liv Morgan, joining Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, and Roman Reigns (who’s basically a Jordan Brand athlete at this point) among modern wrestlers to do so.
Mysterio will most definitely wear his Jordan customs in the ring sometime soon, potentially during next week’s Monday Night Raw. Enjoy detailed images below.
