Original article published July 2nd, 2025:

Silhouettes like the New Balance 1500 may give it a run for its money if you take a wider view, but the New Balance 991v2 pretty squarely sits as the foremost Made in UK proposition for the Boston brand. A frequent sight on the newswire this year in collaborative fashion (Salehe Bembury) or notable in-line releases (the “Grounded Pastels” pack), the suede runner is keeping the pressure on, trotting out another paired release paid off with the New Balance 991v2 “Brandied Apricot.”

Beginning to circulate in hardcore NB fan circles around the same time, the pinkish pair at hand slides in shortly after the reveal of its counterpart, the equally vibrant “Grape Sorbet.” If you find yourself in those corners of the internet or are otherwise fluent in the recent NB catalog, you’ll note this is the second such application of the titular tone, following an additional “Brandied Apricot” from Summer 2024.

Nonetheless, the hallmarks of the “Grape Sorbet” remain for a functional palette swap, contrasting a staid mesh base layer with shaggy suede up top that delivers colorful contrast. And though it may go without saying for those in the know, the Flimby selling points are of course included, with premium materials justifying its relatively high retail price.

Speaking of, be ready for a $250 MSRP if you’re enticed by what the New Balance 991v2 “Brandied Apricot” puts forth. You can keep watch over its release via our Sneaker Release Dates page, but at this juncture, we’re expecting a July launch for the two faux-pack in question.
