Tom Sachs has just launched the I.S.R.U. Summer Camp, and online program in which users can sign up, complete challenges, rack up points, and climb the leaderboards to secure a pair of the Nike Mars Yard 3.0 on September 5th. In case the news has alluded you thus far, the Tom Sachs x Nike partnership is back in action. Alongside a September 2024 announcement of the two parties’ reconvening came news of the Mars Yard 3.0; the long-awaited third chapter of a saga that began over a decade ago. With the shoe’s September 2025 release looming, Nike and Tom Sachs have gone live with a video cataloging the history of the Mars Yard and its place in Nike’s storied history. On top of all the insights gleamed by the New York-based sculptor, Sachs also confirmed that a 4.0 version is already in the works.
In the words of the man himself; “Nike Running is for runners, Nike Basketball is for basketball, and NikeCraft is for everyone else.” In the 17-minute video embedded below, Tom Sachs touches on essentially everything about the Mars Yard line, including its out-of-this-world inspiration as well as his design process as a sculptor. Around the 16:00 mark, Sachs briefly mentions that the Mars Yard 4.0 is already in the early stages of development.
Naturally, there’s very little known about the sneaker thus far. However, if you’re one to speculate, the video ominously pans in on a high-top prototype once Sachs mentions the 4.0. There’s been at least a five-year buffer in between every Mars Yard shoe thus far, so it will likely take a good while for any official announcement to come down.
More immediately, the Nike Mars Yard 3.0 is scheduled to release September 2025 for $275. We’ll go live with another update once official images emerge.
