Matt Varga As we stare down another edition of the “state of the” style series, cut back to the Nike SNKRS Live for Holiday 2024. Amid a variety of attention-grabbing bring backs, one of the big headlines from that showcase was the dawn of the Nike Air Max Muse, a silhouette that tackled Y2K stylings from multiple angles and was clearly aimed at the fashion-forward dressers.
It’ll take the earnest introduction of the Veneda Carter Air Max Muse to really see how the shoe can perform as a “hype” commodity, but the formulation fared reasonably well in its first several releases, not commanding instant sell-outs but not invisible from city streets either. The two most successful editions so far have been its “Triple Black” and “Metallic Silver,” centered around glimmering metallic tones that triple down on its turn-of-the-century aesthetics.
That precedent is why the “Matte Metallic” quarter at hand is particularly noteworthy, parlaying that formula into more vibrant fare: tanzanite, topaz, and jade tones coat the topmost overlays on each of these pairs. The former two utilize those primary colorings rather comprehensively throughout their profiles, while the latter meets its glistening sections with a black mesh base and fire red contrast.
All three of the “Matte Metallic” Nike Air Max Muse colorways displayed and discussed here should hit sometime during the Fall 2025 shopping season, retailing for $170.
