Andrew Rizzo Kiko Kostadinov’s ASICS collabs might not sell out immediately anymore, but the Bulgarian designer still boasts a strong following of “gorpcore” heads that will flock to anything he touches. Following a GEL-Kayano 20 trio in May, Kiko is jumping back into the spotlight with a collaboration on one of the brand’s newer Sportstyle silos in the GEL-Kinetic Fluent.
Touted under Kostavinov’s US6-S series, the GEL-Kinetic Fluent is here given a slew of alterations up top. The model’s traditional mesh toe box is replaced by a curved, all-encompassing leather panel that hosts the eyelets and stretches back to the heel on the lateral side. The ASICS motifs on the quarter drop leather in favor of what appears to be TPU material, followed by a more breathable mesh layer underneath. Off-centered pull tabs on the tongue remain a hallmark of Kiko x ASICS collabs, while the model’s premium GEL cushioning is unaltered underfoot.
Three colorways of the ASICS US6-S GEL-Kinetic Fluent are slated to release on July 25th; “Black/Vanilla,” “Cayenne/Copperhead,” and “Glacier Grey/Soft Sky.” See our “Where To Buy” sections below for purchase links on that date.
