Andrew Rizzo Some makeups just feel at home on skate shoes, and this “Black/Gum” colorway of the Nike SB Leo is one of them. After bringing a likeminded design to the SB Dunk Low earlier this year, Beaverton’s skate wing is continuing to push out classic board aesthetics with a low-key yet compelling take on Leo Baker’s signature model.
The shoe’s curved suede panels, leather toe box, and quarter window all appear in black, complemented by a white leather Swoosh and white contrast stitching throughout. A brown gum outsole concludes the delivery underfoot, taken with a curved cutout around the forefoot for added flexibility. While the SB Leo might draw visual comparisons to older models like the Blazer, its tech is anything but antiquated. Nike React insoles make for a cushioned yet stable wear, part of the reason why it’s received favorable reviews from skaters since arriving in 2023.
