Andrew Rizzo Verdy has landed in London. The Japanese graphic artist and designer behind Girls Don’t Cry is today celebrating the opening of a pop-up shop at Dover Street Market; one of the city’s premier destinations for streetwear and all things hype. The shop will stay is open until August 27th, with exclusive products and new collaborations launching every Thursday in-store. For our purposes, that includes a collab between DSM and Verdy’s VK Design Works collective on the New Balance 991v2.
Unveiled by the official @vkdesignworks IG account, the sneaker oozes British leisure aesthetics with brown leather and suede paneling. Thick off-white mesh material makes up the base layer, while a standard white/grey/black sole unit with blue ABZORB SBS pods lives underfoot. Aesthetically speaking, the design fits well within the DSM canon of simple, contemporary styles. The co-branding is kept fairly minimal, with DSM and VK Design Works graphics appearing on the tongue. The New Balance 991v2 is of course a “Made In England” sneaker, one that’s been on an impressive hot streak consisting of compelling GRs and collaborations alike.
No release info for the DSM x VK Design Works x New Balance 991v2 has been announced yet, but we’re expecting pairs to release at the VK Design Works pop-up at DSM London this month (happening between August 8th – August 27th). DSM shoes generally command steep markups, so we’re expecting an MSRP above the model’s standard £220 (as listed on the DSM site). See detailed images below if you’re considering copping.
