The ASICS GEL-NYC Sprouts “Broken Mesh” On A Pastel Two-Pack

Most people would immediately conjure up silhouettes like the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 or newer propositions like the GEL-Cumulus 16 when thinking of the Japanese brand. However, if you’re prone to people watching, you’re just as likely to see the GEL-NYC out and about as any of their splashier models. The Japanese giant has largely achieved the hybrid model’s foothold through uncomplicated aesthetics, but they’ve shown a willingness to get experimental from time to time, coming to bear with a “Broken Mesh” duo for the ASICS GEL-NYC that just touched down.

True to the (unofficial) title, rather than the typical diamond mesh foundation we see on the silhouette, the GEL-NYC opts for a ballistic counterpart with consistent distressing, dotting the profile with small fabric pronouncements. When paired with the two pastel adornments alongside, combinations of “Piedmont Grey/Bluebell” and “Airy Blue/Stone Wash,” there’s an undeniably sprightly atmosphere pacing these pairs. Either stops short of wearing the full floral treatments associated with the partnership, but you can draw comparisons to the delicate, naturalistic work that Cecilie Bahnsen has forged with ASICS; albeit at a far more accessible price tag.

As mentioned above, either pair in the “Broken Mesh” ASICS GEL-NYC pack is available now via ASICS.com, clocking in at $140 a piece. Grab yours using the “Where To Buy” widgets attached underneath the galleries below.
