Andrew Rizzo New Balance has been going heavy on retailer-exclusives (or “Special Make Up” colorways) in recent seasons, helping bolster its retail partners without having to use the full effort required by official collabs. Following a “Desert Heat” Foot Locker collection, Germany’s BSTN is the recipient of a New Balance 1906U releasing in the near future.
BSTN’s official product listing has these marked as the “BSTN 10th Anniversary Exclusive,” which is odd given the retail chain claims it was founded in 2013. If we’re being really technical, Christian “Fu” Boszczyk and Dusan “Duki” Cvetkovic founded BSTN (or “Beastin”) all the way back in 2008, originally selling graphic tees out of car trunks.
The New Balance 1906U here picks up a familiar, flashy aesthetic, taken with multiple shades of grey, white, and silver. A salmon-colored accent on the lateral side of the midsole is the main point of appeal, complemented by a black heel counter and more salmon accents placed sporadically up top.
The New Balance 1906U “BSTN 10th Anniversary Exclusive” releases in Europe exclusively through BSTN on September 19th. It’s likely the sneaker will release stateside via newbalance.com and US retailers in the weeks after.
