Nike Queues Up The KD 4 “Gold Medal” And KD 18 “Immortal” For September 17th

Just (international) GOAT things.

Nike Queues Up The KD 4 “Gold Medal” And KD 18 “Immortal” For September 17th

There’s a relatively high likelihood that before his first season as a Houston Rocket is out, Kevin Durant jumps Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Wilt Chamberlain to become a top 5 all-time NBA scorer. It’d be statistical backing for a truth that the NBA world has known for quite some time: that he’s among the most talented point-getters in history. That’s something that the international scene has been the victim of on countless occasions, from London to Paris and everywhere in between.

His 2024 gold medal cemented him in the Olympics canon and could’ve credibly made him the Team USA GOAT, making him the first male athlete to earn four medals in a team sport. While Devin Booker and LeBron James will also get in on the “Immortal” festivities on 9/17, it’s undeniable that Kevin Durant’s portion is special for playing off that fact, issuing versions of the silhouettes he earned his first and potentially his last gold medals with.

In many ways, the Nike KD 18 “Immortal” plays off the aesthetics established by the Nike KD 4 “Gold Medal” some 12 years prior, utilizing navy as the dominant contrast shade to gold leather, with red outlines and branding hits further stamping the patriotic air. The newer model alludes to Nike Basketball’s overarching Olympic aesthetic with Safari pattern peering through its traction, while the Nike KD 4 “Gold Medal” holds onto the layout that fans fell in love with more than a decade ago.

Retailers have listed the Nike KD 4 “Gold Medal” and KD 18 “Immortal” as a pack drop on September 17th. Note, however, that individual SKUs for these shoes have been known to us for weeks — this initial launch doesn’t necessarily preclude individual drops sometime down the line, but for the moment this pack drop is the only one we’re aware of. Be ready for a $360 price for the two shoes featured here.
