The purists in the sneakerhead community are sticklers for original materials. And to its credit, a model like the Nike Air Max 90 typically does right by that crowd, issuing countless spins off of OG colorways like the “Infrared” and “Laser Blue.” However, in expanding to new demographics, sometimes new materials can be just what’s needed.

The Nike Air Max 90 “Croc Skin” delivers quickly on that concept, its new touch immediately evident at first glance. Faux croc skin replaces leather on the mudguard, adding newfound texture to a section that typically runs smooth. Though not as splashy, the same goes for a pebbled leather base one layer below. If change is a dirty word in your mind, don’t fret; the usual blend of whites, greys, and blacks that has kept the Air Max 90 in casual rotation for three decades remains intact, paired with contrasting “Fir Green” coloring that makes these a season-friendly addition for Fall.
