The Air Jordan 40 “Bordeaux” Is Pure Class

The world’s most famous and longest-running signature sneaker line has officially entered its fortieth chapter. Packed with the very best hoops tech Nike Inc. has to offer, the Air Jordan 40 has been extraordinarily well received by hoopers since arriving this summer. Next up is a look that takes a literal approach to the phrase “aging like a fine wine”: a “Bordeaux” edition expected to land in the near future.

Much like the Nike LeBron 23, word on the street is that the Air Jordan 40 will serve as a canvas for highlighting some of the Air Jordan line’s most significant moments – something we already discussed via an upcoming November release. This “Bordeaux” edition shares a name with an original Air Jordan 7 colorway, but that’s about as deep as any potential tie-in goes (the Jordan 7 featured a predominantly black and grey exterior). The Air Jordan 40 here opts for an entirely “Bordeaux” tumbled leather upper – a classy look that does well to mirror the line’s maturity. The lone anomaly is a small “Metallic Gold” accent on the medial side just above the midsole.

Performance-wise, the Jordan 40 combines ZoomX foam with a full-length Zoom Strobel unit for the first time in Jordan Brand history, delivering the bounce required by its soon-to-be devotees like Trae Young and Paolo Banchero. Six internal webbing straps lock the foot in place, while a unique 40-degree herringbone traction pattern ensures top-tier grip underfoot.

The Air Jordan 40 “Bordeaux” doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but an October 2025 arrival for $205 USD seems likely. In any case, our Jordan Release Dates page will be kept current with all available info.
