The Gorpy Air Jordan 1 Element Low Is Winter-Ready In “Glacier Blue”

No matter where you fall on the traditionalist spectrum, you’ve got to give it up to Jordan Brand for being unafraid to break boundaries. The Jumpman has only become more open to experimentation since the dawn of MJ’s playing career, and 2025 has been no exception — with Jordan delivering new hybrid models like the Jordan MVP 92 and even an Air Jordan Mule in a clear, unabashed embrace of current fashion trends.

Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising new model from the Beaverton sub-brand in 2025 is the Jordan 1 Element Low — an entirely new take on Jordan’s first signature shoe reimagined through the lens of a hiking sneaker. Jordan Brand unveiled three colorways at an invite-only event in New York earlier this month, and now official images are beginning to surface ahead of the model’s debut. Here we have the “Glacier Blue,” one of three looks set to launch on October 1st.

Imagine giving the Nike ACG team free rein over the Air Jordan 1 Low — that’s essentially what you get with the Element. The Jordan 1 Low OG cut is used as the jumping-off point, and “jump off” is putting it lightly to say the least. GORE-TEX material is used on the base layer to shield the foot from moisture, although perforations on the toe box and heel maintain some level of breathability. A new padded, sock-like interior with pull tabs juts out around the collar, complemented by a new ripstop tongue. Underfoot is where the transformation is most dramatic, as Jordan Brand introduces an all-new rugged sole unit akin to those found on Nike ACG hiking sneakers (think Mountain Fly, Pegasus Trail, etc.).

Importantly, Jordan Brand has ventured down this path with the AJ1 before. Regular readers will likely recall the Air Jordan 1 Element High from a few years back, which managed to become — and remain — a popular sight during the cooler months. While that model also featured a GORE-TEX construction, it retained the standard AJ1 sole unit, unlike the all-in gorpcore reworking we see here.

Like its “Medium Olive” and “Triple Black” counterparts, this “Glacier Blue” edition keeps things relatively simple from a colorway perspective. White hits land on the Swoosh logos and midsole, while the only other breaks from the titular hue comes via royal accents on the insoles, pull tabs, and tongue tag.

The Jordan 1 Element Low “Glacier Blue” releases on October 1st, 2025, for $200. See official images below if you’re considering adding a pair to your winter rotation.
