Tim Cook Wears Custom Sashiko Gals x Nike Vomero Plus To Apple Ginza Opening

Apple is staying in the headlines — not just because of the release of the iPhone 17, but also due to the company’s somewhat surprising connection to the sneaker world. Following a keynote that saw Travis Scott wear the super-rare vintage Apple sneakers, our focus now shifts from Cupertino to Ginza in Tokyo, where Apple CEO Tim Cook debuted a never-before-seen pair of custom Nike Vomero Plus sneakers.

The sneaker is said to have been made by Sashiko Gals, a collective of more than a dozen moms from Otsuchi Town in Japan known for reimagining sneakers using the decorative, traditional embroidery technique. The design transforms an existing Vomero Plus colorway with an all-new upper featuring intricate blue patchwork, complete with white stitching and subtle hits of red to match the sneaker’s ZoomX cushioning underfoot.

As of this writing, it appears the Sashiko Gals Vomero Plus is a one-of-a-kind pair created exclusively for Tim Cook to celebrate the opening of the new Apple Ginza store.
