The Nike Shox R4 Dons A Pastel “Splatter”

A brightened women's exclusive.

The Nike Shox R4 Dons A Pastel “Splatter”

While younger siblings like the Shox NZ or Shox Z may have more “new shoe smell” on them, longstanding champions of the retro cushioning tech do have one leg up on their peers: an ability to go experimental in a way that Nike typically doesn’t during any model’s early run.

That brings us to the shoe at hand — a “Splatter” edition for the Nike Shox R4 that brings unexpected energy on two fronts. Of course, the titular speckled print across the synthetic sidewalls is the most noteworthy, a break from the shining finishes that typically paint the model. However, the colorway in general is a divergence in its own right. The model’s “default” composition has leaned sleek rather than playful, embracing its 2000s origins with metallic tonality. The pastel overhaul, delivered with animated hits of “Royal Pulse,” “Mint Foam,” and “Green Strike,” should help this variation stand out from a crowded pack.

Despite its special touches, the Nike Shox R4 “Splatter” remains a general release (GR) and thus will likely populate Nike.com and partnering retailers sometime in the coming weeks. Prepare for a $180 sticker price in women’s sizing if you’re planning on scooping up this pair.
