Sneaker Politics’ ASICS GEL-K1011 “Live Oak” Is Louisiana Strong

After putting on a strong campaign for the GEL-Kayano 14 “Just Say No” earlier this year, Sneaker Politics is reconvening with ASICS for an exclusive take on the GEL-K1011 silhouette.

If you’re unfamiliar with the GEL-K1011, we wouldn’t blame you. The sneaker debuted via a collaboration with Gallery Dept. in 2024 but has otherwise faded from headlines, taking a backseat to newer hybrid propositions like the GEL-Nimbus 10.1 and GEL-Kayano 12.1. Elements from the GEL-Kayano 5, 6, and 10 are blended together on the upper, while a GEL-Cumulus 17 is used underfoot.

Sneaker Politics’ version is a love letter to Louisiana, home to the chain’s founding location in Lafayette as well as additional outposts in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The sneaker draws inspiration from the Live Oak, one of Louisiana’s most ancient trees known for its ability to withstand hurricanes and other environmental challenges — symbolizing the strength and resilience of a community that’s endured the same.

Multiple earthy shades span hairy suede and mesh, aptly matching the look of moss and bark. Blue synthetic overlays at the quarter add a slightly mystical touch, complemented by yellow hits on the tongue, heel, and ASICS logos.

The ASICS GEL-K1011 “Live Oak” releases October 18th exclusively at Sneaker Politics (in-store and online) priced at $170. See detailed images below if you’re considering copping.
