Andrew Rizzo Salehe Bembury can now add “published author” to his stacked resume. The New York–born creative just celebrated the release of I Make Shoes — the first book on and by Salehe — which documents his sneaker journey from Cole Haan to Yeezy to where he’s at today. And it hasn’t taken sneaker sleuths long to spot an Easter egg.
Pictured among a grid of Salehe Bembury x New Balance releases is a quartet of unreleased pairs: two New Balance 1000s and two New Balance 992s. One of the 1000s is the multicolor style we saw emerge on the heels of the “Fog Be The Cloud” the other month, which is still TBD on the release calendar. The other three sneakers haven’t been seen until now.
The real headline here is that Salehe will in fact release a collaboration on the resurgent New Balance 992 silhouette — something many could likely guess given the silhouette has already been passed to other A-tier partners like Joe Freshgoods, Kith, and Action Bronson during its renewed run. One colorway appears in blue and green with an earthy mudguard and midsole, while the other comes in pink with what appears to be gradient, sunset-esque New Balance logos. This marks Salehe’s first New Balance 992 collab and his second collaboration on a Made in USA New Balance model, the first being a New Balance 990v2 from 2022. The fourth never-before-seen sneaker is a New Balance 1000 featuring a blue midsole and a terracotta-shaded upper.
No release info regarding the unreleased Salehe Bembury x New Balance shoes has been announced as of this writing, but that could change in the near future. Stay tuned for any and all updates.
