Nike and Carhartt WIP are finally coming back together again. For @surplussydney 2025 — a Nike co-run, three-day festival in Australia at the intersection of music, food, fashion, and art — the sportswear and workwear giants are releasing a mini capsule of exclusive items, including limited Active Jackets and pocket Tees.
Now that Nike and Carhartt have revived their partnership through apparel, we can’t help but wonder if footwear will follow. In 2018, the two iconic brands collaborated on a slate of sneakers that included the Air Force 1, Air Max 95, and even Nike Vandal styles. While not a pair for the everyday man, the most legendary Carhartt x Nike Inc. sneaker is arguably Eminem’s Air Jordan 4 from 2015. Only ten pairs were auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting the Marshall Mathers Foundation.
It’s a common misconception that the two brands’ first collaboration came in 2004 via two Nike SB Dunk Low styles. However, that famed Silver Box set was not an official partnership. That said, there have been persistent rumors that Nike SB and Carhartt WIP will eventually come together for a formal project. Sneaker leak source @ovrnundr reported in late 2024 that a collaboration is in the works — though no further details have surfaced since. Still, we can hope.
Back to the collaboration at hand: the Carhartt WIP x Nike apparel for @surplussydney will be available at Carhartt WIP’s bespoke WIPNEWS stall at the festival on Saturday, October 18, 2025. See detailed images below if you’re planning to swing by.
