Original article published October 23rd, 2025:

New Balance’s lifestyle category has been moving extremely fast in recent seasons, debuting a bevy of new models like the 2000, 2010, and 204L in 2025 alone — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In May, the Boston brand debuted the New Balance RC56, a new model co-created by New Balance and Aimé Leon Dore. Every pair inherently has Teddy Santis’ fingerprint on it, but general release styles are in the pipeline as well. That begins with a “Blue Gemstone” edition for November 2025, shown here via official images.

The New Balance RC56 feels nostalgic and new at the same time, boasting a relatively slim build with a techy aesthetic. The sides are visually segmented by curved arch-shaped panels, with mesh making up the upper portion and perforated leather sitting just above the sole. New Balance’s N-Lock logo — notably used on the New Balance 1906R — appears at the quarter, while a continuous panel running from tongue to toe mimics a racing stripe. Underfoot, a FuelCell-cushioned sole unit ensures all-day comfort. This “Blue Gemstone” colorway draws out the model’s curvature with dual-tone color blocking, featuring grey hits on the upper mesh, perforated leather, and outsole.

The New Balance RC56 “Blue Gemstone” is due out November 2025 via the New Balance website. No retail price has been announced yet, but note that the ALD collab pairs went for $160. See official images below if you’re considering trying these out.
