We’re seeing it in 2025 with returns of beloved non-OGs like the “Black Cat” 4s, and 2026 looks to be offering more of the same — spearheaded by pairs like the Jordan 8 “Black Chrome” and women’s exclusive Jordan 5 “Sunset”. Now we’re adding another to the list, as zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files report that the Jordan 5 “Black/University Blue” is due to return next fall.
Originally released in 2006 as part of the Jordan LS (Lifestyle) series, the sneaker is a beloved yet often under-discussed part of the “UNC” Jordan canon, mainly because it’s never been retroed. No images of the 2026 version have surfaced yet, but the sneaker is expected to mirror the original with a black nubuck upper, silver tongue, and University Blue interior lining. As most will agree, the standout detail is University Blue contrast stitching across the upper. Icy blue soles round out the design, while a Jumpman logo lives at the heel — though it’s possible this retro might feature “Nike Air” branding similar to the upcoming Jordan 4 “Black Cat”.
The Jordan 5 “Black/University Blue” is due out Fall 2026, meaning sometime between next July and September. See detailed images of the 2006 version below to refresh your memory.
