Daniëlle Cathari Flips Her Matcha-Inspired New Balance 991v2

A new flavor.

Daniëlle Cathari Flips Her Matcha-Inspired New Balance 991v2

Updated October 31st, 2025: The Daniëlle Cathari x New Balance 991v2 “Reverse” is available now on Kith.

Daniëlle Cathari’s first New Balance collaboration was a hit, the Amsterdam-based designer touching down with a Made in England 991v2 inspired by the trendy (performative?) matcha latte. New Balance heads rushed to cop, and now that sneaker commands nearly $1,500 on aftermarket sites. Nearly two years and a job title change later, Cathari is back with a refill.

Here we have the New Balance 991v2 “Reverse Matcha,” an inverted take on the designer’s first pair. The overlays now feature Chocolate Brown suede, while the base is cut from Pistachio green mesh. Underfoot, the standard white/khaki/black sole unit is utilized. Not a groundbreaking design by any means — but clearly a sought-after style given its predecessor’s extraordinary demand. Importantly, while the palette remains the same, the “Reverse” is said to be inspired by Cathari’s favorite desserts.

The collaboration releases through Kith Women, where Cathari served as creative director for about a year before resigning in October 2024. The drawing opens on the Kith App on Tuesday, October 28th, and closes on Thursday, October 30th. Limited quantities will also be available for purchase on October 31st at 11:00 EST at select Kith Shops, the Kith App, and the Kith website. See detailed images below if you’re going for a pair.
