The Nike Ja 3 Sports Horse Hair For Chinese New Year

Like Anthony Edwards, Ja Morant hit a major sneaker milestone this summer with his first-ever trip to China. And just like the Anthony Edwards 2, the Ja 3 is set to drop in a special Chinese New Year colorway at the top of 2026 — another head-to-head moment between the two young guards in the business arena.

2026 marks the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac, and this Ja 3 leans all the way into the theme. A brown faux horse hair tongue takes center stage, furthered by a brown mesh base. Red detailing across the upper and sole symbolizes good fortune for the year ahead, while gold Swooshes layer in a touch of prosperity. Chinese characters on the insoles round out the festive details. There’s a hint of “Bison” Nike SB Dunk energy here — though that sneaker has no direct tie to the inspiration at play.

The Nike Ja 3 “Chinese New Year” (aka “Year of the Horse”) is expected to release in men’s sizing in Spring 2026, likely coinciding with Chinese New Year in mid-February. Check out the first look images below, and visit our Sneaker Release Dates page for more upcoming basketball shoes.
