Matt Varga The Duke Blue Devils aren’t playing games this year. Well, obviously they are — but when it comes to what their hoopers will sport on the court, they’ve opted for a staggered rollout of some standout PE styles, now a group of three as an alternate Duke Nike Kobe 5 Protro comes to light.
While the last two pairs that Duke shared leaned into their white-dominant “Home” and blue-heavy “Away” jerseys, this pair veers closer to the third, alternate black outfits. Particularly effective in this layout are the gradient overlays that shift from white at the toe to blue at the collar, then are contrasted by jet-black tongues and synthetic sidewalls. Long-time Mamba fans will clock the color-blocking scheme as akin to the Kobe 5 “Joker,” obviously distinct with the Duke logo on the tongue to fully stamp its exclusive status.
