Sneaker News With the 2025 New York City marathon wrapping, Nike is celebrating the annual event with some special NYC-inspired gear made for the sport’s most influential and accomplished athletes. Designed for Eliud Kipchoge and Sifan Hassan, the Swoosh created three iterations of the Nike Vomero Premium in Knicks-inspired colors.
Both Kipchoge and Hassan will be wearing these city-specific editions while sitting courtside at the Sunday evening Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. The Vomero Premium launched earlier in October touting an incredibly high 55mm stack height, a full-length ZoomX foam mid-sole, and two embedded Zoom Air cushions taken from top-level track spikes. These are issued for the two athletes and will not see a public release.
In addition to the Vomero Premium SMUs, Nike partnered with Public School NYC and An Only Child to create custom outerwear to complete the fit. This stylish take on black leather jackets represent the toughness and grit embodied by marathon runners of all levels who challenge themselves with the 26.2 mile journey. Kipchoge’s jacket features his ground-breaking 1:59:40 marathon time embroidered on the interior, while Hassan’s honors her roots by showcasing flags of both the Netherlands and Ethiophia.
Again, Kipchoge and Hassan will wear the custom gear during the Knicks/Bulls game at 7 PM ET on November 2nd.
