Andrew Rizzo Women’s college basketball phenom Juju Watkins will miss her entire junior season due to an ACL tear, but assuming she returns to form, it’s unlikely that setback will derail her path toward being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 WNBA Draft — a projection scouts made well before she played her first college game. Nike recognized her potential early as well, signing her to a deal while she was still in high school and later awarding her “one of the richest shoe endorsement deals in women’s basketball” in 2024 (per Shams Charania).
That level of belief isn’t just reflected in headlines — it’s showing up in product. Shown here is Watkins’ own player-edition Nike Zoom GT Cut 3 Turbo, releasing November 15th in classic USC colors. The pair features a red upper accented by gold Swooshes and laces, a white sock liner, and subtle black floral illustrations on the inner tongue.
This marks only the second time an NIL athlete has launched a player-edition Nike sneaker, following Paige Bueckers’ GT Hustle 3 in 2024. The GT Cut 3 Turbo serves as a more cushioned and supportive iteration of Nike’s popular GT Cut 3. Despite its sturdier build and added rubber reinforcement across the forefoot, the Turbo actually weighs slightly less than the standard version.
