The Steven Smith-Designed New Balance 1500 Looks Better Than Ever In “Raven”

A strong style for Holiday 2025.

The Steven Smith-Designed New Balance 1500 Looks Better Than Ever In “Raven”

There’s been much ado about new Made in England silos like the Allerdale and 991v2, but the New Balance 1500 remains iconic for a reason. The Steven Smith–designed silhouette has long been a favorite among New Balance’s most devoted fans, still delivering pure “dad shoe” energy nearly four decades after its debut.

A long-tenured hallmark of New Balance’s Flimby factory, the 1500 here takes on a compelling “Raven” grey colorway for Holiday 2025. All told, the sneaker does a fine job of balancing warm pops of color with neutral tones, sticking to what the Boston brand does best. The quarter, heel, and mudguard are cut from premium “Raven” suede, paired with nubuck on the collar and tongue. Light grey underlays give way to muted blue mesh on the toe box, complemented by gold accents on the tongue and heel branding. Underfoot, a clay reddish-orange outsole completes the look.

The New Balance 1500 Made in England “Raven” is expected to release Holiday 2025 for $255. Pairs will be available via the New Balance website and select boutiques. See official images below if these are making your wish list.
