The adidas adiStar XLG 2.0 Continues Debut In “Core Black”

Will it scratch the itch?

The adidas adiStar XLG 2.0 Continues Debut In “Core Black”

If you’ve even a passing interest in footwear, it’s been tough to miss the adidas Jellyfish throughout 2025. Pharrell Williams’ latest chapter with the Three Stripes has been arguably his most coveted, with the three released colorways to date each threatening and often surpassing the $1000 mark on resale platforms. Assumedly to cater to those who miss out on the ultra-sized runner and are unwilling to part with a rent payment to assuage that, adidas has teed up the adidas adiStar XLG 2.0, initially not expected to hit shelves until 2026 but continuing an earlier-than-expected introduction in “Core Black.”

The adidas adiStar XLG 2.0 copping an accessible general release strategy, as opposed to the every-so-often, highly limited one that the Jellyfish proper has relied on, has indirectly already afforded the “takedown” model a real headstart from a design perspective. The “Core Black” edition shown here is a perfect example, pairing its chunky, exaggerated hardware with a stealthy colorway for the first time in either silhouette’s lifespan. The blown-up aspects from the adiStar Control 5 remains in place here, from the TPU takeover of the Three Stripes, to the maximalist sole unit to the wavy gridded overlays that intersect just below the collar.

EU retailers have the adidas adiStar XLG 2.0 “Core Black” queued up for a November 15th release; stateside details are still pending.
