The mid-2000s and early 2010s represent a key era for Jordan Brand’s retro business over the next few seasons, and aside from the impending “Gamma” 11s, no model exemplifies that focus more than the Air Jordan 5. The model’s “Black/University Blue” and “Sunset” colorways from 2006 are already on the docket for next Fall, but the party starts with another beloved non-OG makeup at the top of the year, the Air Jordan 5 “Wolf Grey.”
The “Wolf Grey” 5s originally released in 2011, right before what many consider one of the least inspired stretches in Jordan Brand’s history. That being said, the “Wolf Grey” 5s stood out as a bright spot during that period. While not a part of Jordan Brand’s earlier “Lifestyle” series, the sneaker checked many of the same boxes the brand sought to fill after MJ’s playing days, bringing a versatile, wearable, lifestyle-friendly aesthetic to one of the Air Jordan line’s most beloved silhouettes.
All things considered, the 2026 retro does a solid job of replicating the 2011 pair. Tumbled “Wolf Grey” leather with white contrast stitching covers the upper, while white speckled shark teeth and icy blue soles sit underneath. Jordan Brand has recently been adding the “Nike Air” treatment to non-OG colorway retros (see the “Black Cat” 4s), but this release stays true to the 2011 version with Jumpman logos on the heel. The most noticeable update appears on the lateral side, where the stitched “23” text uses a more block-like font that more accurately mirrors the 1990 aesthetic, just like the recent “Fire Red” 5s retro.
The Air Jordan 5 “Wolf Grey” releases January 10th, 2026 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. See detailed images below and keep our Jordan Release Dates page handy to stay current on all upcoming drops.
