Tyler, The Creator And Converse Are Dropping Their First Winter Boot

Four debut colorways on tap.

Tyler, The Creator And Converse Are Dropping Their First Winter Boot

If Tyler, The Creator’s status as a genuine powerbroker under Converse wasn’t evident by his sprawling backlog under his Golf Wang and Golf Le Fleur imprints, perhaps spawning another venture under the banner of the Boston brand cemented it for you. The DON’T TAP THE GLASS artist has been trotting ahead with his 1908 “residency” that’s already brought the world two silhouettes, now elbowing onto our front page with its third.

Like the 1908 Jogger and Naut-1 before it, the Tyler, The Creator Converse 1908 Bronco is a reinvention of an archival design, hand-selected by the rapper/producer from the Boston vault for revival. While the brand references a “’90s limited edition Boot,” the Converse Bronco is, in fact, also a historical silhouette in the brand’s backlog. A cleat/oxford model, we wouldn’t claim this as the central piece of the 1908 Bronco’s DNA, but a ridged toe aligns with the mudguard seen on this retake. Rope laces, deep lugged traction, and simplistic paneling up top complete an unexpected entry into both Tyler and Converse’s oeuvre.

The highly dedicated fans of the multi-talent’s work may get a bit of déjà vu with this design. Indeed, during the early days of the CHROMAKOPIA rollout, a scene of Tyler as the album’s defining character included a footward shot. The boot depicted there was the Bronco, later utilized heavily in the era’s costuming. The all-black colorway most frequently tabbed for that narrative duty is included in this debut quartet. Flanking it are three more vibrant affairs, one delivering refined brown leather that echoes the formalwear of its aforementioned peer. The back half of the collection is where the luxe “Le Fleur” atmosphere really shines, as off-white canvas and pale green suede align with the vibrant design language that’s paced Tyler’s fashion outcroppings the whole way through.

Look for the Tyler, The Creator x Converse 1908 Bronco Boot in these four colorways hitting Converse.com and partnering retailers on November 13th. A $150 retail price is confirmed for the black and brown leather editions; a $140 MSRP for the yellow and green.
