adidas And Anthony Edwards Are Ready For The “Year Of The Horse”

The Chinese New Year marks one of the first big sneaker holidays of every calendar cycle, and basketball has become the occasion’s most important vertical for special releases. Nike has long led the charge, soon set to drop a Nike Ja 3 alongside a “Year Of The Horse” Kobe 8 Protro twelve years removed from that model’s debut. As for the Three Stripes, the much-discussed adidas Anthony Edwards 2 is joining the celebration with a themed colorway of its own.

Rather than take a literal approach to the motif like the pony hair Ja 3, the AE2 opts for a shimmery palette highlighted by silver side panels and matching carbon fiber treatments. A white leather upper with gold piping adds a premium feel, while the tongue and backtab come in a soft baby blue shade. The key detail appears on the right backtab, where a gold emblem blends Ant’s number 5 with a horse graphic that some might liken to the Mobil Pegasus logo. Red hits on the tongue and outsole round things out, symbolizing luck and good fortune.

The adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “Year Of The Horse” releases Spring 2026, likely around the start of the Chinese New Year in mid February. See official images below and hit our Sneaker Release Dates page to browse more upcoming basketball shoes.
