“Hinoki Beige” Slices Through The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14

In many ways, the rise of the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 overlays one-to-one onto the cresting tech runner moment, still going strong several years into its re-emergence. For the most part, ASICS has been able to keep the energy surrounding their titanic archival design without having to reinvent the wheel when it comes to inline colorways, again the case as a “Hinoki Beige” edition comes to light.

Immediately, the titular tones imbuing the sole read as a full-throated embrace of current trends, hitting on the faux-aged contrast that so many of ASICS’ models tend towards. Where this pair may diverge from what we’ve come to expect from the GK14 is in the uppers, where there’s barely a hint of any metallic shading that tech runners so frequently wear. Instead, this veers closer to retro sportstyle with a combination of pure white and pine green, the latter cutting through the otherwise neutral profile by anchoring the cross hatch logo at the quarter.

The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 “Hinoki Beige” is already up on the brand’s Japanese site, meaning a stateside/global drop shouldn’t be too far behind. The model’s usual $150 retail price is expected.
