Matt Varga The casual consumer may only know ASICS from current titans like the GEL-Kayano 14 or GEL-1130, but they’d be leaving so much of the Japanese giant’s catalog highlights in the process. Clearly, that was a line of thinking that the company itself shared, as they rose to meet the demands of the ever-dominant “tech runner” movement by bringing back their archival ASICS GEL-Cumulus 16.
First teed off in collaborative fashion with the reliable floral flourishes of Cecilie Bahnsen, further link-ups like that with Finesse and various inline applications have allowed us to get a pretty good understanding of the color-blocking potential for the silhouette. Up next in that series of aesthetic lessons comes the “brown/pink” arrangement at hand. Beginning with earthy overhauls of the dual-density keeps this colorway in relatively standard territory for ASICS, but the branches of vibrant purple coursing one layer below helps this approach statement quality.
The ASICS GEL-Cumulus in “Brown/Pink” has already started to populate overseas retailers, indicating that a stateside drop shouldn’t be too far behind. Expect the usual $140 sticker price once this does begin touching down via US channels.
