Look good, feel good… you know the drill by now. And for that matter, a generation of NFL players abide by that script now, too. While Beaverton’s increasing willingness to dedicate their beloved footwear to performance goals means that you’ll spot everything from the Nike Dunk to the Air Jordan 3 on game day, easily one of the biggest winners of the turf-ified initiative has been the Deion Sanders shoes empire, with his Air DT Max ’96 a particularly prolific choice for the league’s best.
Soon, both fans and professionals alike will get the chance to usher in another one of Deion’s vaunted designs into the modern canon. The Nike Diamond Turf 2 is already on its way in its original lifestyle/cross-training build, but official images of a cleat have surfaced as we count down to that release. Built on the typical “TD” platform that includes an elastic, sock-like foot entrance and jagged spikes underfoot, Nike’s designers do a great job of slimming down the Diamond Turf 2 for this renewed purpose. Despite the sleeker overall composition, the iconic hallmarks of Sanders’ second are visible all the same, from the pocked midfoot strap to the vented sidewall windows that sit one layer beneath.
The Nike Diamond Turf 2 TD Cleat in “Prime Red” releases on February 7th, the same day as the street version; this offshoot clocks in at $230, however. Catch official images below and watch our Sneaker Release Dates page for more info.
