Andrew Rizzo This one’s for the Reggae Boyz. The partnership between adidas and Bob Marley’s estate presses forward with a fresh rasta-inspired take on the Handball Spezial, complete with multicolor stripes and specific callouts to both Bob Marley and the Jamaica Football Federation.
adidas will release sneakers for all its biggest national kit sponsorees ahead of the 2026 World Cup, but Jamaica is the only one to get an actual collaboration by our count. Bob Marley’s link with adidas goes back to the late 1970s, when he was photographed wearing the Three Stripes at his concerts, being especially fond of the SL-72 model. His estate kicked off a collaborative series on that silhouette in 2024 and is now set to circle back with a number of styles ahead of the 2026 World Cup, including an EVO SL, Gazelle Indoor, and the Handball Spezial we have before us today. Green, yellow, and red stripes land over a black suede upper, complemented by a red backtab featuring Jamaica Football Federation branding. Perhaps the most special touch appears on the insoles, featuring a tag of Marley’s face, his signature, and text reading “Football is Freedom.”
