Matt Varga New Nike models are used to retelling the stories of the brand’s past exploits. Nike SB’s penchant for doing so is particularly in focus as the Nike Book 2 comes to market, a shoe that cites its Nyjah Huston and Zoom Spiridon influence without shame. Series like the “J-Pack” demonstrate that tendency even further back, but jumping outside of the Swoosh’s sphere is something that’s a bit more uncommon.
We’ll likely not get an official answer as to whether this was an intentional nod, but we can’t help but pick up Louis Vuitton Don breadcrumbs from the latest edition of the Nike Air Max Ishod, sharing the two-tone earthy foundation and pink trim from Mr. West’s luxury foray. Importantly, Wair has already stepped onto previously explored terrain with past colorways, from the everlasting “Wheat” to a more pointed “Black Grape” à la the Air Jordan 5. Leaving aside the links to previous kicks, the palette overall remains a highly successful one, and with the Air Max Ishod remaining one of the more well-regarded in SB’s current signature series, it’s hard to go wrong with the hardware, too.
