Andrew Rizzo Nahmias, better known as the LA-based streetwear brand behind the mega-viral Marty Supreme windbreaker, caught us by surprise with an unreleased collab on the PUMA Suede in the weeks after the movie’s launch, another stunt geared toward making Timothée Chalamet’s film the cultural moment it was intended to be. Now, the brand is circling back with a collaborative capsule actually set to see a public release.
Self-defined by its mix of “skate, basketball, surf, and hip-hop codes,” Nahmias does a fine job of reworking the Suede through a number of material and paneling changes, with each of the brand’s three styles taking a different route. The most distinct of the bunch sees a pink Formstrip made of crocheted fabric, paired with yellow and mint green laces and a purple outsole. The tongue and toe box are made from off-white canvas, while an added suede toe overlay, a consistent feature across the trio, adds another layer to the project.
The rest of the pack is arguably more wearable yet still far from boring. One suits up in off-white with a red leather Formstrip, rope laces, and a leather tongue featuring exposed foam, opting for an all-brown midsole underfoot. The other comes with black suede side panels, a white Formstrip, and black leather across the uppermost elements. Tweed-colored rope laces are paired with a slightly pre-distressed black midsole and gum outsole.
