Matt Varga And just like that, Public School NY is back. In case you hadn’t noticed, the high-fashion-meets-streetwear label has been absent from the airwaves since 2019. As Fashion Week descends on New York for the first time this year, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne returned to the runway, primarily for their apparel, of course, but also bringing some A-list collaborations with Nike and Jordan Brand.
In a Substack piece accompanying their runway return, the founders share that it was a connection with an admirer wearing the Public School NY x Air Jordan 15 that sparked this yen to get back into the swing of things. Perhaps it’s that moment that alights one of the two collabs previewed here, a murdered-out rendition of the AJ15 that “finishes the job” from their previous black/white by extending those tones through the sole. At least from these initial shots, it appears the brand switches to a refined suede make-up, contrasting the more traditional mesh that defined their three-pack from back in the day.
Visually, the Nike Air Max Goadome that Public School debuted carries the same spirit, also wearing a tonal flood of black. However, it’s the hardware there that’s most important: a stitched-on leather shroud turns this into what’s formally being called the Nike Air Max Goadome Cowboy Boot. Beyond just a simple hardware upgrade, there’s a genuine runway air that runs over this revamp via buckled straps that veer closer to the world of earnest formalwear.
Given the showcase in which these two shoes debuted, we can likely expect the Public School Air Jordan 15 and Nike Air Max Goadome Cowboy Boot to touch down sometime in the Fall/Winter 2026 window (sometime between July and the end of the year).
