New Balance has a penchant for the “full court press.” In recent years, fans and media alike have been able to identify which are the real pedestal products among their constant stream of new silhouettes. Tracing back to the AZBORB 2000 and its red carpet treatment, they’ve only upped the ante for their latest tech-forward lifestyle offering, the New Balance 1890.
If you’ve caught our recent coverage on the model, you’ll have to forgive the repetition, but setting this shoe up contextually requires a quick recap. The New Balance 1890A provided our first look in a Wallabee-style build before Action Bronson set off two colorways of the more athletic variation at hand. We then uncovered a yellow/black set for the general release era, though a later-revealed “Faded Black/Utility Green” will earnestly start the journey on March 13th.
Another look jumps onto the pile with the “Silver/Pink” depicted below, a merger of 2013’s 890v3 upper and the OG 2002 platform, a full-length cushioning setup that led to that original silhouette being shelved, partially for too high a production cost. With chunky, teched-out sole units all the rage once again, Boston designers do their best to highlight that aspect in this colorway, put forth in vibrant pink before ever-trendy retro metallics take over the upper.
We haven’t caught wind of a release date for the New Balance 1890 in “Silver/Pink” just yet, but expect this to be among the introductory options for the model as we move towards Summer ‘26. We’re comfortable in projecting a $170 retail price upon arrival.
