Matt Varga Nike is just as protective over their brand as the next category-leading sportswear colossus, but that doesn’t mean it’s allergic to having some fun with its trademarks from time to time. The “Have A Nike Day” collection from around the turn of the decade is perfect proof, leaning into the imprint’s storied history with vintage graphic design and applying its indelible Swoosh to match the cheery title at work.
Beyond the initial set of Air Max releases that brought the name to the fore, we would see a few scattered follow-ups in the couple of years to follow before the motif fell out of favor entirely. With the Air Max line becoming impossible to ignore in an all-hands-on-deck “Neon” celebration for March, this makes a suitable opportunity to bring it back, with “Have A Nike Day” now pasted onto the Nike Air Max DN8. Replacing the usual “Dn” brand on the heel is the cocked smiley we’ve come to associate with the greeting, laid out in purple tones that go on to coat the 8 Dynamic Air chambers underfoot. Most of the real estate then delivers a thermal map/snakeskin arrangement of moody purples before black trim closes this pair out.
