Andrew Rizzo Few sneaker industry relationships are as stable as Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS. The Bulgarian designer has long since graduated from “collaborator” status, evolving into something closer to an in-house curator (or “kurator,” if you’re so inclined). His latest project could end up being his most successful in a minute, teasing a new model on Instagram built atop the sole unit of the ubiquitous ASICS GEL-NYC.
Leaning on the GEL-NYC as a foundation already sets things up nicely. The Angelo Baque-endorsed silhouette has quickly risen to the forefront of the ASICS Sportstyle lineup, holding strong since its debut in 2023. Kiko’s take separates itself with an all-new streamlined mesh upper, featuring horizontal tape lines and reworked, split ASICS side motifs. Four lively colorways have been previewed, including Blue/Purple, Brown/Yellow, Teal, and Navy/Blue.
The model’s official name and release date have not yet been announced as of this writing, but expect that to change soon. See detailed shots of all four colorways below in the meantime.
